Also know as sea asparagus, salicornia is a plant with fleshy stems and scale shaped leaves, which gives the plant a peculiar form.

Salicornia from Ria Formosa is slightly salty, crunchy, succulent and tasty. It can be eaten raw or cooked in several ways, as in salads, with fish, sushi, shellfish, meat,
pastas, as seasoning and in alcoholic or non-alcoholic drinks.
